After Winning Jurisdictional Ruling, Hospitals Resolve Underpaid Travel Insurance Claims
On behalf of four South Florida hospitals, Lash & Goldberg LLP sued Canadian travel insurance carriers in federal court who had underpaid claims for medical treatment provided to their insureds. The Firm won a key jurisdictional ruling and defeated the insurers’ motion to dismiss the complaint, which required the Canadian insurers to litigate and stand trial in the United States district court rather than in the Canadian courts. Soon thereafter, the Firm procured a highly favorable settlement of the hospitals’ claims from the insurers.
