While denying that discrimination occurred, the hospital challenged the jurisdiction of the Commission to hear disability discrimination complaints against hospitals licensed in Florida under the Florida Civil Rights Act.
Lash & Goldberg LLP represented a national debt collection service in a class action alleging violation of state and federal consumer protection laws. The complaint alleged that calls to collect debts owed for medical services did not fully identify the caller or purpose of the call.
Lash & Goldberg LLP represented a well-known sports broadcaster in his lawsuit against a media infomercial production company. The sportscaster sued the company in federal court for misusing his image and likeness and fraudulently inducing him to enter into an agreement through which the infomercials were produced and other claims, as well as injunctive relief. The Firm resolved the dispute through a settlement agreement whose terms are confidential.
Lash & Goldberg LLP fully resolved a long-standing dispute and litigation between a Palm Beach County hospital and a physician group which held a ground lease on hospital property and provided diagnostic services at the hospital.
Lash & Goldberg LLP resolved proceedings brought by the Securities & Exchange Commission against the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of a publicly traded consumer electronics retailer. The SEC charged the officers with violation of the securities laws in connection with certain alleged financial reporting and accounting improprieties. Following a lengthy investigation, the matter was resolved favorably for the Firm’s clients.
