Florida gets another chance to make case in ‘water war’
Florida Politics covered a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in which the court decided that Florida should be given another chance to prove its case that over consumption of water in Georgia is damaging the Apalachicola River system. The long-term legal battle, dubbed a “water war,” is not yet over. Lash & Goldberg LLP Senior Counsel Jonathan Williams, a former Deputy Solicitor General who worked on the case, said while it is an important victory for Florida, it is too early to celebrate.
“What it means is that Florida gets an opportunity to prove its case,” said Mr. Williams. “But the court’s opinion doesn’t say whether Florida will prevail or not.”
