John W. Black Joins LashGoldberg As Partner

LashGoldberg LLP is pleased to announce that attorney John W. Black has joined the firm as a Partner. Mr. Black is a former federal prosecutor and a seasoned commercial litigator whose practice focuses on the financial and healthcare sectors, government investigations, and False Claims Act cases. He brings to LashGoldberg extensive experience in complex litigation and arbitration, representing individuals and commercial clients in high-profile and high-stakes cases.

LashGoldberg is a Florida-based law firm focused on representing business interests in litigation matters throughout the United States. The firm handles a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters, health care litigation and class actions. LashGoldberg has represented some of the nation’s largest companies for decades and routinely litigates with and against some of the world’s largest law firms.

“We are delighted to welcome John to the LashGoldberg team as a Partner,” said Martin B. Goldberg, Co-Founding Partner of LashGoldberg. “John brings a rich background in False Claims Act and complex commercial litigation matters. His expertise gained as a federal prosecutor and a seasoned commercial litigator will further support our clients.”

Mr. Black previously served as Trial Attorney in the Fraud Section of the US Department of Justice, investigating and prosecuting fraud against the United States.  As a federal prosecutor, he led investigations under the False Claims Act, FIRREA, the Stark Law, and the Anti-Kickback Statute. His work at DOJ led to recoveries totaling over $4 billion, and he was responsible for some of the largest DOJ settlements during the past 10 years.

Before his time at the Department of Justice, Mr. Black worked at two large national law firms in Washington, D.C., representing Fortune 100 clients involved in high-stakes class action litigation, arbitration, and government investigations. He represented corporate clients before the Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and various state regulatory agencies.

“I’m honored to become a Partner at LashGoldberg, one of Florida’s premier boutique law firms,” said Mr. Black. “I’m confident that my background in healthcare and financial litigation will be a great fit with LashGoldberg’s existing practice areas.”

Mr. Black earned his J.D. degree cum laude from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He received a B.A. degree in political science and government from Cornell University.
