Supreme Court sides with Florida in decades-long dispute with Georgia over water rights
The Tallahassee Democrat covered a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in which the Court decided that Florida should be given another chance to prove its case that over consumption of water in Georgia is damaging the Apalachicola River system. Lash & Goldberg Senior Counsel Jonathan Williams was a member of Florida’s “Water Wars” legal team when he served as Deputy Solicitor General under Attorney General Pam Bondi from 2015-17.
Mr. Williams told the Tallahassee Democrat that while this is an important victory for Florida, it is still too early to celebrate.
"Florida still needs to convince the special master that a cap on Georgia’s water consumption will benefit Florida substantially more than it will harm Georgia, and a final decision is likely more than a year away," he said.
